Archer Lodge Presents Family Fun Day

In honor of Independence Day, the Archer Lodge Volunteer Fire Department held a family fun day event on Saturday, July 1, 2017, located in Clayton, North Carolina.

The Archer Lodge Volunteer Fire Department teamed with local vendors, such as Lee Heating and Air Conditioning, Mclaurin Funeral Home, Kristoff Law Offices, and Fred Smith Company to draw in visitors within the community. The event featured live music from the Steady Drive Bluegrass Band, a 5k road race, a parade, family games, food trucks, and the annual Little Miss Archer Lodge Pageant.

This event is spread over two days and is the only time, in which the small town of Archer Lodge experiences a traffic jam. The Archer Lodge Fire Department strives to bring the community together in a positive way, while also working hard to keep the entire town safe. According to a News and Observer article, “the fire department responded to 200 more calls [in 2014] than it did in the early 2000’s,” (Dunn, 2015) which shows that the small town in gradually increasing in population. As a result, the Archer Lodge has plans to expand its headquarters by adding “dorms, additional truck bays, and future EMS space” (Dunn, 2015).

The Archer Lodge Fire Department hosts several events throughout the year, which includes a New Year’s Breakfast for the entire community, a pumpkin carving festival, and a Christmas Celebration. “Archer Lodge is such a small town, so my family looks forward to when these events take place. It’s a great way for our community to come together,” says Robin who has lived in Archer Lodge, Clayton, North Carolina for several years. “I am grateful to have these opportunities in such a small town, but even more grateful for the Archer Lodge Fire Department’s efforts to keep us all safe,” says Phil who tries to bring his three children to as many events as possible.
